The Liquid History of an old Market Town in Sussex
This walk explores half a millenium of Steyning’s liquid history. See where malthouses, breweries, inns and public houses were situated in the past and whether any trace of them can be found today. The White Horse, the Chequer, the Norfolk Arms and the Star are fortunately still trading – see and hear something of their history, all set within the background of drinking establishments in Sussex.
There are plenty of stops for looking and listening on the way – it is a slow ramble around the town. At the end there is plenty of time to visit one, or more, of Steyning’s delightful pubs and to sample some of its liquid history!
